SPRITE BAND CHALLENGE- FINAL

Anuprastha takes away 1st position

Nepal’s first ever “Rock Band Challenge” a contest for aspirant rock stars and their die hard fans alike has had a successful run for about 3 months now.

Out of the 50 hopefuls that first entered the arena for the auditions, three remained for the final face-off. Alt F4, Anuprastha and Bequeath have weathered the storm and emerged unscathed. In a world where there is a perpetual battle to be on top, we can only offer these hardcore rockers a chance to live their dreams and bang our heads to their riffs and beats.

With a lakh in cash prize and a chance to put up a music video of their own, the winning band is looking at fame and fortune handed out in a platter, as luck would have it, quite literally.

They were a hit the last time as they came alive to kick some life into their music at Jawalakhel Grounds, and as they performed some originals, a proposition put forward by the judges they were received with a lot of ardor and acclaim. Robin Tamang a marvel of sorts and one of the revered judges was out their among other greats on the stage rocking the monsoon blues away.

The Sprite Band Challenge has had an outstandingly popular run and we have witnessed some incredible performers in the assembly. The much anticipated finals that took place in Soaltee was a roaring event. As the crowds flocked in, the evening was about to see one band stand out above the rest, with the challenge of performing an original and one song of the judges’ pick, it was their moment of reckoning. Nima Rumba, Preeti Kaur and Mt. 8848 were among the celebrity performers adding to the glitz of the show.

But it wasn’t the celebrities who stole the show but the winner and as they were announced among much fanfare, Bequeath stood in at second place followed by Alt F4 and Anuprastha who were looking good all the way took the crown along with one lakh rupees and a ticket to shoot their very own music video. Alt F4 didn’t go empty handed they raked in thirty thousand in cash and Bequeath took home an amount of Rs fifty thousand. The opportunity and the kind of platform they got would be enough to launch a career in music and we certainly hope they’re here to stay.
